This was the last day of my grand tour. It was a Sunday at the end of the day and I had a short window to do the shoot. I’d been to other places in Fife that day, but places I knew better and now I wanted to go somewhere new.
Crail’s connection to the sea was apparent everywhere I went but rather than focus upon the sea I wanted to capture an image that spoke more of the community in Crail. You can glimpse the sea and the adventure out there. There’s a glimpse of the street at the end and you wonder what’s around the corner.
The colour palette was really pleasing with warm peaches and beiges against the blues of the sea and sky and warm greys from the building’s shadows. This image is layered with texture and weight and colour and depth. For me, searching for an image where I can see and feel all of these things, I didn’t even go to the harbour in the end.
