While on the approach to the head of Loch laidon across the rock and heather strewn bogs of Rannoch moor I stumbled upon this beautiful convoluted pattern of roots that had bee revealed due to the gradual erosion of the peat around the waters edge. I was drawn by the skeletal whiteness of the sun bleached foundation of a once majestic pine that had towered over the now bleak moor in earlier times.
