Borders-Kelso race course Grandstand.jpg
This was a rush of a day, going to four possible locations in Kelso. Nothing felt like it was working and the sun was going down. The racecourse was last on the list. The sky was peaching up and the light was really nice.
The grandstand was shot from the judge’s tower, which you enter in through a zigzag staircase.
A calm image at sunset: just 10-15 minutes after the shot was taken the sun was gone. No crowds, no horses, no cameras – just calm. It was now just a sleepy building at rest, just architecture and light. I could have sat there for ages.
The symmetry, the firm lines, the perspective, looking straight down the lens at the end of a busy day. It’s a different view of a building that is usually concerned with speed and power and competition and action.
