Going into the chapel I was reminded of Rosslyn Chapel. It was a fascinating mix of Italian, Christian, pagan and masonic symbolism.
It was built for a couple to be interred after their death – Robert Montgomery and Margaret Douglas. Their tomb is below the altar. The interior was a real surprise. You go into a building down a lane and you have no idea the building is there, let alone that there is an interior space like this.
