A scottish landscape photographers journey would not be complete without a pilgrimage to this spot by the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. The lone tree that sits a couple of yards into the water from the shore of Milarrochy bay has been photographed countless times, and for good reason. Visitors to this lovely vantage point are afforded iconic views across the water west, past Inchlonig toward Luss with the peaks of Beinn Chaorach and ben Eich behind. This was my first visit to the location and I was keen to get something Different from the usual take on this view so I opted to go for a side profile looking southwest. I set the camera for a long exposure to enhance the sense of stillness and calm, which worked well with the warm tones of the afternoon sun and the cool mists rolling over the hills. A perfect backdrop for a silhouette of this amazing wee bonsai-esque tree.
